Collection and Drop Off API
Use Cases
Using the Collection and Drop Off API, a merchant's customers will be able to choose to have their parcels delivered directly to one of our many Parcel Collect locations nationwide. Typical use of the Collection and Drop Off API would be to embed it as a part of a merchant website's checkout process that gives the customer a choice to use a local collection point. We have outlined some potential user experiences for when this option is offered to a customer.
User Experience A – Prompting before address input
As the customer goes to checkout, they are presented with a choice of having their items delivered to their postal address, pickup instore or to a collection location.
If the customer chooses to use a collection, then the customer is asked to put their address into the website. From this address, the website will return all of the locations that are nearby for their parcel to be delivered to.
The customer will click on their preferred location and then continue with the checkout process.
The merchant will process the order with the chosen collection location as the delivery address. Once the parcel has been delivered to the collection location, the merchant will notify the customer (via email or SMS) that the parcel is ready to collect. The customer will go to the collection location to collect the parcel from there.
User Experience B – Prompting after address input
As the customer places their address details into the checkout, the address is validated. The validated address will then indicate that there is a nearby collection location, and they can use one of these delivery points instead of their own address.
If the customer chooses to proceed with using a collection location, the website will return a map showing the customers address and all of the nearby collection points. The customer will click on their preferred location and then continue with the checkout process.
